“162 system options not set” is the error which i got recently when i tried to change the ram of the system having windows xp professional.When we start the system it gives the error “162 system options not set” at the time of booting and it wont go further.

Yesterday when i changed the new ram and restarted the system,it gave me error “162 system options not set”.Its not letting me to get inside the desktop,it says time is not set properly in bios and need to reconfigure or clear the time settings or you need to bring back the factory settings in bios,but i could not go further as it says press F1 but nothing happens by doing so. so i googled in HP forums and found the solution.

Solution:start the system and keep tapping F11,it will automatically restart the system and this time it asks to press F1 to save settings(it clears bios data and saves the factory default settings in bios) and automatically restarts the system automatically,this time you need to get into bios and agaiin set the time properties properly and restart.Now your system wont give “162 system options not set” error and will boot to the desktop successfully without any error.
